How to Research Executive Security Travel Risks

The continual threat of terrorism, infectious disease, violent political strife, war, mechanical failures and the devastating violence of nature are valid concerns for executives traveling to international destinations. Business travel often requires journeys to destinations we would never choose for pleasure or comfort. The prudent executive wisely researches the security risks inherent in every business trip.

Step 1
Study and research medical care, the danger of infectious disease and prevailing sanitary conditions of the country to which you are traveling. View the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website or call its office for current information on medical concerns in the country or region you are visiting. Request advice on immunizations suggested or required in the destination country.

Step 2
Evaluate the political situation in the country or countries you will visit. Determine if social unrest, riots, military actions or insurgent activity presents a significant danger to your personal safety. Go online, watch television news and read the newspapers to broaden your understanding of activities happening at your destination.

Step 3
Visit the the State Department’s Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management’s website for the latest updated information regarding travel alerts for countries on your travel itinerary. The ACS implements the Consular Information Program, which informs the public of situations and events abroad that may affect security and safety. Travel alerts, country-specific information and timely travel warnings are all vital parts of this program. Interactive maps on the State Department website provide daily updated reports, medical advisory statements and vital information to travel safely to international destinations.

Step 4
Inquire about different possible transportation options. Will you travel by air, mass transit, rail or automobile? Contact the carrier for possible delays, security concerns and travel advisories.

I like that you mentioned evaluating the security risks in the area you plan to visit. You want to know as much about the area as possible. A security consultant may be worth talking to.

An excellent insight into how proper provision of executive security should be maintained in order to protect an employee and the organisation. Business travel security should involve all the above risk assessment done beforehand. Because without proper research unexpected danger be befall an individual.
